Andreas Cangellaris

University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign

Professor Andreas Cangellaris’ expertise is in the area of applied and computational electro-magnetics (EM) and their application to the development of efficient modeling methodologies for electrical performance assessment and design of high-speed, packaged IC systems. He has co-authored more than 200 papers and three book chapters on topics related to EM modeling and simulation for IC signal integrity. He has also supervised the development of EM CAD tools and signal integrity analysis-driven EM/circuit simulators, several of which have been transferred successfully to industry. Prof. Cangellaris is a Fellow of the IEEE and the recipient of the Alex-ander von Humboldt Research award from Germany in 2004. Most recently Prof. Cangellaris participated in the DARPA NeoCAD program. The primary objective of NeoCAD program was the integration in the design flow of high-speed/high-frequency ICs of advanced electromagnetic field solvers needed for noise-aware, layout and routing of highly-integrated, mixed-signal, elec-tronic systems. Under the NeoCAD program Prof. Cangellaris supervised the development of EM field solvers and model order reduction tools for comprehending with electromagnetic accuracy the behavior of the signal and power distribution networks of the IC [66]-[80].
