Ioannis Chasiotis

University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign

Professor Ioannis Chasiotis’ expertise is in the area of experimental mechanics at the nanoscale, mechanical reliability and fracture of MEMS/NEMS and thin film electronic materials, and failure mechanics of inhomogeneous/anisotropic materials. He has co-authored more than 20 journal and conference papers and two book chapters on the mechanics and reliability of MEMS. His work on MEMS deformation mechanics has received the distinction of Best Paper published in Journal of Micromechanics and Microengineering and included in the Institute of Physics Select list, and the Best Paper Award at the 6th International Symposium on MEMS and Nanotechnology organized by Society for Experimental Mechanics. Professor Chasiotis received the Founder's Prize from the American Academy of Mechanics in 2000, and in 1999 the Charles D. Babcock Memorial Award from the California Institute of Technology.
