Philippe Geubelle

University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign

Professor Philippe Geubelle’s expertise is in the area of computational solid mechanics with emphasis on the multiscale analysis of fracture and damage in heterogeneous media and on the computational design of novel (self-healing and self-cooling) materials. Other topics of interest include coupling issues associated with multiphysics problems and massively parallel adaptive finite element simulations. His research activities in the area of multiscale modeling of complex materials have been funded by the Department of Energy, the Air Force Office for Scientific Research, the National Science Foundation and ATK Thiokol. Over the past ten years, he has co-authored about 60 scientific papers. Professor Geubelle is also the Director of the Illinois Space Grant Consortium and the recipients of various research and teaching awards in the UIUC College of Engineering.
